As I've mentioned elsewhere on this site, I originally played Danganronpa because a friend of mine said that Toko was me, which was a little unkind but, let's be honest, not that far wrong. For years, my profile picture on Whatsapp has been this picture of Toko's beta design:
This picture looks more like me than I do. No fewer than four people saw it and thought I'd commissioned someone to draw me.
Actually, here's the conversation in which my friend Tem discovered it wasn't actually a picture of me, because it makes me laugh:
Me: My dad, my brother and my sister-in-law all saw Beta Fukawa and thought I'd commissioned someone to draw me.
Tem: ...
Tem: Riona, this isn't a drawing of you?
Me: SURPRISE, IT'S A DANGANRONPA CHARACTER.
Tem: This has genuinely messed up my whole day
Tem: I feel lied to
Rei: babe did you seriously not know this
Tem: no!!!
Tem: it looks like Riona!!!
Tem: It's a picture that looks like Riona and I have only ever seen it as her avatar!
Rei: yeah wow
Rei: that must be really fucking with you
Tem: it is!!!
Tem: I have thought that was Riona for four years!
Tem: Turns out it's been some fucking video game weeb shit this whole time!
