I really feel Byakuya's dorm room should be fancier! I suspect Byakuya feels the same.
On my first experience of Danganronpa, I was relatively neutral on Byakuya. He had some fun moments, but he wasn't a standout character for me.
On replays, I've become a lot fonder of him, because it turns out Byakuya Togami is hilarious. He's just so arrogant and ridiculous. I enjoy the way he just toys with everyone in the second case for no good reason, potentially risking death for everyone, including himself.
I love that Byakuya never does anything himself, too. I think his funniest moment is when there's a fire that urgently needs to be put out, and Byakuya has a bucket of water, and he hands it to Makoto because only peasants put out fires.
Although Byakuya's very good at hiding it, I think he does end up developing some degree of fondness for the others. I find it interesting that he's clearly unhappy to accuse Makoto at the end of the fifth trial. '...I don't see any other option.'
Byakuya telling Hina 'dial back that ego a bit; you'd never have succeeded in killing us' when she's struggling with guilt after Sakura's trial is also an interesting moment for his character. Byakuya Togami, being comforting in the only way he knows how, i.e. while also being a massive dick.
I'm really curious about Byakuya and Toko's weird relationship; what's going on there? They seem to spend a lot of time together, away from everyone else, and I suspect that's not just because Toko is always following Byakuya. She'll do anything he says; if he told her to stay away from him - and he's not shy about telling people to go away! - she might well obey. Byakuya does seem to tolerate her, if nothing else.
When everyone thinks there's a murderer rampaging around the school in chapter three, Byakuya is also the first to bring up that Toko is passed out on the floor and they should return to check on her. Someone should let Toko know; she'll be thrilled.
Fun fact: if you give Byakuya the unisex 'Emperor's Thong' gift, he will happily accept it. Trigger Happy Havoc is not as generous with information about the characters' taste in underwear as the later Danganronpa games, but Byakuya likes thongs 'designed solely for those in control of their buttocks', and I think it's important for everyone to know that.
